Police Inspector sustains gunshot injury after rescue of old folks

A police Inspector, Inspector Gideon, has sustained a gunshot injury on his right leg during a gun duel with kidnappers in Kebbi State.

Gideon was shot when he and other policemen stormed the kidnappers’ den to free 62 years old  Alhaji Aliyu Dankuroji and 70 years old Hajiya Hauwa.

The Kebbi State Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji Kontagora said: “On the 14th of November, 2022, at about 6:30 PM, information received revealed that the kidnapped victims, Alhaji Aliyu Dankuroji and Hajiya Hauwa of Runtuwa makaranta Fulani settlement, Dakingari Distract, Suru LGA, were kept by their captors at a hill along Bunza/Dakingari road. On receipt of the information, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Dakingari, immediately responded and successfully rescued the victims unhurt and reunited them with their families. Inspector Gideon sustained a gunshot injury on his right leg during the encounter, and was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi, for medical attention, and is responding to treatment.”

In another development, the Kebbi State Police Command on the 16th November 2022, at about 5:PM, a combined team of Policemen and vigilantes attached to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mayama, while on patrol along Maiyama/Koko road, intercepted 30 years old Mustapha Abubakar of Marna area, Dange shunu LGA, Sokoto State and 30 years old Lawali Bala of Kaya village, Tambuwal LGA of Sokoto State, with an unregistered Bajaj motorcycle reasonably suspected to be stolen. When questioned, the suspects confessed to having snatched the said motorcycle at Makirin area, Birnin Yauri District, Ngaski LGA. During the investigation, Buhari Sule, Sa’adu Bala and Abdullahi Umar, were also arrested for receiving stolen property. One motorcycle was also recovered as an exhibit.
