CP Fatai Visits Military Formations, Reinforces Security Collaboration in Lagos

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, has reiterated the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling security challenges, following a series of courtesy visits to key Armed Forces formations in the state.

The visits, held on April 22, 2026, took the police chief to the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army; the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters of the Nigerian Air Force; and the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Apapa.

At the 9 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Lagbaja Cantonment, Ikeja, where he was received by the Commander, Brigadier General Ayokunle Owolabi, discussions focused on strengthening the longstanding partnership in internal security operations.

Speaking during the visit, CP Fatai stressed the need for sustained collaboration.
“Effective security management in a complex and strategic state like Lagos depends on seamless collaboration among all security and law enforcement agencies,” he said.

At the 651 Base Service Group Headquarters, Nigerian Air Force, Sam Ethnan Air Force Base, Ikeja, the Commissioner was received by the Commanding Officer, Air Commodore M. A. Imam. Both parties discussed enhancing professionalism, intelligence sharing, and operational cooperation.

Similarly, at the Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, Apapa, where he was hosted by Commander Commodore Aiwuyor Adams-Aliu, talks centred on strengthening joint efforts to secure the state’s waterways and improving multi-agency operational coordination.

CP Fatai подчеркed the need for unity among security agencies, noting that the Nigeria Police Force and the Armed Forces must continue to work together with mutual respect and shared responsibility.
“We must continue to operate in unity, guided by our collective commitment to safeguarding lives, property, and critical national assets,” he added.

He also commended the Armed Forces for their consistent support to the Lagos State Police Command.
“The cooperation we receive from the Armed Forces formations across the state is invaluable and remains crucial in combating crime, maintaining law and order, and addressing emerging threats,” he said.

The police chief reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining peace and ensuring public safety through strengthened partnerships with relevant stakeholders.

The Lagos State Police Command said it remains resolute in its mandate to protect lives and property while fostering collaboration to enhance security and support socio-economic development in the state.
