Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have intensified offensive operations across the North-East theatre, recording fresh gains in ongoing counter-terrorism efforts under Operation DESERT SANITY V.
According to the Nigerian Army, the operations led to the neutralisation of several terrorists, the arrest of suspected collaborators, and the surrender of a suspected insurgent.
In one of the operations conducted alongside members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), troops engaged terrorists moving from Yale towards the Sambisa Forest axis. Four terrorists were neutralised during the encounter, while troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition, and food items believed to be part of terrorist supply logistics. No casualties were recorded among the troops.
The Army said sustained operations along key routes, including Dambboa–Maiduguri, Dambboa–Gwoza, and the Goniri axis, have continued to restrict the movement and activities of insurgents, effectively denying them freedom of action.
In a separate development, troops stationed at Kanama arrested two suspected terrorist collaborators during a stop-and-search operation. The suspects were found with clothing, personal items, and digital materials allegedly linked to terrorist logistics and possible affiliations. They are currently in custody undergoing further investigation.
Meanwhile, one suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP member surrendered to troops at a checkpoint in Kukawa Local Government Area. The individual reportedly claimed to have been abducted earlier in the year and forced to join the group. He is currently undergoing profiling and investigation.
The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, security, and economic stability in the North-East, urging residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
The Military High Command also commended the troops for their resilience and urged them to maintain the momentum of ongoing operations.
