Military Sources Allege Pressure to Conceal Boko Haram, ISWAP Attacks Ahead of 2027 Elections

-

Fresh controversy has emerged within Nigeria’s security establishment following deadly attacks on military formations in Yobe State, as military sources alleged that top army authorities have intensified efforts to suppress information about operational setbacks linked to insurgent activities.

According to sources who spoke to SaharaReporters, the development followed the publication of an exclusive report detailing how at least 36 soldiers and Mobile Police personnel were reportedly killed during coordinated attacks by Boko Haram insurgents in Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State.

The sources alleged that shortly after the report was published, military commanders became angered over the leakage of operational details to the media and subsequently began a crackdown on personnel suspected of sharing information with journalists.

The insiders further claimed that the pressure to contain reports of attacks and casualties was allegedly linked to directives from the office of the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
