Enugu Police Deny School Attack Report, Hunt Down Source of Viral Post

-

The Enugu State Police Command has dismissed as false a viral social media report claiming that armed herdsmen attacked a school in the Ezeagu Local Government Area, warning that those behind the post will face prosecution.

The Command said security assessments, intelligence gathering, and investigations launched immediately after the report surfaced confirmed that no such attack occurred either in Ezeagu or anywhere else in Enugu State.

“No such attack occurred in any school within the Local Government Area or any other part of Enugu State,” the Command said in a statement on Monday.

Police expressed concern over what they described as a deliberate fabrication capable of triggering panic among school administrators, teachers, students, and parents. The Command said efforts were already underway to identify and arrest those responsible for creating and spreading the post.

Commissioner of Police Mamman Bitrus Giwa directed the Command’s Tactical and Intelligence Units to intensify operations and ensure that those behind the false report “are arrested and made to face the full weight of the law.”

CP Giwa urged residents to remain calm and disregard the circulating report, while staying alert and reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or security agency.

Members of the public can reach the Command through the following emergency lines: 08032003702, 08086671202, 112, 09134666668, or 09134448093. #Securitynewsalert.com
