Two die, 16 rescued from collapsed Lagos building

-

Two persons have been confirmed dead, while 16 others have been rescued from the rubble of the two-storey building that collapsed at Alakija, Old Ojo Road, along the Badagry Expressway in Lagos.

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, in an update on Thursday, said six additional victims were pulled alive from the debris, bringing the total number of rescued persons to 16.

The agency said rescue operations were still ongoing, with emergency responders continuing search-and-rescue efforts to ensure that all affected persons are accounted for.

“Rescue efforts are still ongoing, and six additional victims have been successfully rescued from the debris, bringing the number to 16. Regrettably, two persons have been recovered dead,” the agency said.

The Fire and Rescue Service added that personnel remained at the scene to secure the area and support ongoing emergency operations.

The Controller General of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, said further updates would be provided as the rescue operation progresses. #Securitynewsalert.com
