COAS Improves Soldiers’ Accommodation To Strengthen Operational Readiness

-

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, on Tuesday commissioned five renovated blocks of soldiers’ accommodation at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment, Plateau State, as part of the Nigerian Army’s continued drive to improve personnel welfare in support of operational effectiveness and national security.

Speaking during the commissioning, the COAS said the initiative forms part of broader efforts to enhance living conditions for troops and their families across military formations nationwide.

During an interaction with families of personnel in the barracks, Lieutenant General Shaibu commended the wives of soldiers for their patience, resilience and unwavering support, describing them as vital to sustaining troop morale and enabling personnel to remain focused on their constitutional responsibilities.

He reaffirmed that the provision of quality accommodation remains a key pillar of his Soldier First Concept, stressing that improved living conditions are essential to boosting morale, strengthening combat readiness, and enhancing the Nigerian Army’s capacity to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and national security.

The commissioning of the renovated accommodation blocks is expected to benefit troops and their families stationed at the cantonment, further reinforcing the Army’s welfare-driven approach to operational readiness.
