IGP Disu Charges Senior Officers on Professionalism, Due Diligence at Strategic Briefing

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Riliwan Disu, recently convened a strategic briefing with the Force Management Team, senior commanders, and key stakeholders at the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Peacekeeping Hall, Force Headquarters, Abuja, urging officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and due diligence in safeguarding the nation.

Addressing senior officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the IGP commended the tactical gallantry displayed by operatives nationwide in the fight against banditry and violent crime, singling out the recent hostage rescue operation in Oyo State as a landmark example of operational excellence.

On preparations for the forthcoming Osun State off-cycle gubernatorial election, IGP Disu directed the Commissioner of Police for Osun State and his counterparts in neighbouring commands to fortify border security and deploy critical operational assets ahead of time, in order to guarantee a peaceful, transparent, and violence-free election.

The Force chief also issued a stern warning against unauthorised case transfers and undue interference in ongoing investigations, describing such practices as unethical acts that compromise investigative outcomes, erode public confidence, and jeopardise the administration of justice. Officers at the briefing also reviewed strategies to tackle the growing threat of organised crime and vandalism of critical national infrastructure

To further strengthen institutional transparency and community relations, IGP Disu announced an upcoming executive workshop for all Commissioners of Police, themed “Enhancing Strategic Communication, Media Relations, Thought Leadership, Emotional Intelligence, and Public Relations Excellence in the Nigeria Police Force.”

In his closing remarks, the IGP called on all personnel to redouble their efforts in fulfilling the Force’s constitutional mandate of protecting lives and property. He equally commended members of the public for their continued support, noting that timely and actionable intelligence from citizens remains vital to the success of police operations nationwide.
