The Delta State Police Command has arrested six suspects, including a 15-year-old female juvenile, in a raid on a store allegedly used to sell illicit drugs in Agbor.
According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, operatives from the Department of Operations acted on credible intelligence during a routine patrol along Alegwe Street, off Owa Road, Agbor, leading to the raid.
Those arrested include Anabel Haruna (18), Terhemen Faith (19), Kaityo Abigail (23), Iorkee Eunice (26), and Osomuri Emmanuel (31), alongside the juvenile suspect, whose identity has been withheld in line with standard practice for minors.
A search of a vehicle linked to the suspects led to the recovery of quantities of Tramadol, Rohypnol, and other suspected illicit substances. The suspects and the recovered items remain in police custody as investigations continue.
Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, who gave the marching order for the operation, said the command would continue to identify and dismantle drug distribution networks across the state. He noted that the spread of illicit drugs fuels violent crime and other forms of criminality in society.
The Commissioner further directed all operatives across the command to intensify intelligence gathering and enforcement efforts against drug dealers and their networks, warning that Delta State would not be allowed to become a haven for illicit drug trafficking or any other form of criminal enterprise.
