Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have eliminated scores of terrorists and recovered a large cache of ammunition and weapons in separate operations across Zamfara and Kaduna States.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, on the operations conducted on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.
According to the statement, troops of Sector-II engaged terrorists at Kwanar Jolof in the Shinkafi and Zurmi Local Government Areas of Zamfara State, eliminating scores of them in the encounter.
The troops recovered an RPG launcher, an RPG bomb, an AK-47 rifle, six magazines, 106 rounds of ammunition, and a motorcycle from the terrorists.
In a related development in Kaduna State, troops intercepted a vehicle along the Saulawa–Zaria Road and eliminated a suspect who attempted to evade inspection.
A search of the suspect’s bag uncovered 793 rounds of ammunition concealed in gari.
The vehicle and its driver have since been detained for further investigation.
The statement noted that troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA remain committed to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring peace across the Joint Operations Area.
