The Safer Highway Patrol of the Bayelsa Command has reported the arrest of a military personnel and the recovery of a large quantity of cannabis during an intensive patrol operation along the East-West Road.
According to the Command, officers flagged down a blue Toyota Tacoma Hilux vehicle fitted with a siren, allegedly used to intimidate checkpoints.
The vehicle, registered as RSH 986 DN, was driven by Felix Dickson, a 51-year-old native of Owhe community in Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.
Investigations revealed that Dickson was contracted by Lieutenant James Emmanuel, a 30-year-old officer of the Nigerian Navy Special Services (NSS) in Ogun State, to transport five “Ghana Must Go” bags containing 248 moulds of cannabis, suspected to be Scottish Loud, from Lagos to Port Harcourt for distribution.
During interrogation, Dickson reportedly claimed ownership of the seized exhibits. Both suspects, along with the vehicle and recovered items, have been handed over to the Commander of the VCRU for discreet investigation.
The Bayelsa Command emphasised its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and criminal activities along major highways, assuring the public that further updates will follow as investigations progress.
