The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Kurfi Police Station in Katsina State and other policemen engaged suspected terrorists in a stiff gunbattle, leading to the rescue of five kidnapped victims.

Securitynewsalert.com heard that on the 12th of December, 2022, at about 2:AM, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles, attacked Unguwar Rinji, Ruwayau village, Kurfi Local Government Area and kidnapped one Alhaji Ali and four others.

The Katsina State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police (SP), Gambo Isah, said: “The DPO Kurfi, led tactical teams, blocking their exist route. Fortunately, the terrorists followed the expected route.  In the spur of the moment, the terrorists were engaged in a fierce gun duel and successfully repelled them. The team succeeded in rescuing all the kidnap victims.  While scanning the scene, it was reasonably believed that many terrorists escaped the scene with gunshot wounds. Efforts are on with a view to arresting the hoodlums.”
