#RULAAC Seeks Urgent Clarification From Anambra Police Over Whereabouts of Nwosu Chikamso Jennifer

The Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Centre (RULAAC) has called on the police to urgently clarify the whereabouts, safety and legal status of Ms Nwosu Chikamso Jennifer, whose whereabouts have reportedly remained unknown since she honoured a police invitation in Anambra State.

The Executive Director of RULAAC, Okechukwu Nwanguma, made the call in a letter addressed to the Police Public Relations Officer (PRO), expressing concern over the prolonged inability to reach Nwosu.

According to Nwanguma, the last communication he had with Nwosu was on September 6, 2026, when she confirmed that she would report to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, accompanied by her lawyer, on September 7 to honour a second police invitation.

Nwanguma said Nwosu had promised to contact him immediately after the police engagement, but her telephone had remained switched off and unreachable since then.

He said the police had subsequently informed him that the Commissioner of Police had ordered Nwosu’s rearrest.

However, RULAAC said it had not received clarification on whether the alleged rearrest was carried out, the offence for which she was purportedly rearrested, or where she was being detained.

The organisation also raised concerns about whether Nwosu had access to her lawyer and family.

“Given the length of time she has remained unreachable, RULAAC is seriously concerned about her safety and welfare,” Nwanguma said.

He urged the police to urgently confirm whether Nwosu was rearrested after reporting to RRS Awkuzu.

RULAAC also requested clarification on her current whereabouts, the allegation or offence for which any arrest or detention order was issued, and whether she had been released, charged before a court or remained in police custody.

The organisation further sought confirmation that Nwosu’s lawyer and family had been informed of her situation and granted access to her, where applicable.

Nwanguma stressed that the request was not intended to obstruct any lawful investigation by the police.

“This request does not seek to obstruct any lawful investigation. It is simply necessary to establish that she is safe and that any police action concerning her complies with the law,” he said.

RULAAC consequently appealed for an urgent response from the police, particularly in view of the length of time Nwosu had allegedly remained unreachable.

The organisation’s intervention comes amid growing concerns over the need for transparency regarding the arrest, detention and legal status of persons invited or taken into police custody.
