Child Abuse Case in Ikorodu Raises Concerns

-

The Advocacy Centre for Victims of Neglect (ACVPN) has received a disturbing report of child abuse involving a 20-month-old toddler, Kodijah Adeneka, allegedly perpetrated by her father, Idris Damilare Adeneka.

According to a mandated reporter, the incident occurred on September 21, 2026, in the Gberigbe, Orelope Araromi neighbourhood of Ikorodu. The matter was subsequently reported at Imota Police Station.

However, concerns have been raised about the handling of the case at the station. The mandated reporter expressed fear that the investigation may be compromised if left at the local level.

In response, ACVPN has called for the immediate transfer of the case to the Gender Unit of the Lagos State Police Command, GRA Ikeja, where it can be properly investigated and handled with the sensitivity it requires.

The organisation is urging the Officer in Charge of the Gender Unit to intervene swiftly, ensuring that justice is served and the welfare of the child is prioritised.
