Suspected terrorists invade village, shoot pastor, kidnap five women

The Katsina State Police Command said that suspected terrorists today 15th of December 2023, invaded Dantsauni village, Kankara Local Government Area in the state, shot a pastor and disappeared with five women.

The terrorists, wielding AK47 rifles were said to have invaded the village, shooting sporadically and also succeeded in shooting one Pastor Haruna on his hand before kidnapping the five women who were preparing to go to church for Sunday worship.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), a Superintendent of Police, Gambo Isah, while confirming the incident, said at about 7:AM, a distress call was received that terrorists in their numbers, shooting sporadically with AK47 rifles, invaded Dantsauni village, Kankara LGA of Katsina State, shot one Pastor Haruna on his hand and kidnap five women who were preparing to go to the church for Sunday service.

Isah further stated: “The kidnapped victims are Rabi Isyaku, 15, Rabi Saidu, 36, Rabi Babba,  49, Saratu Hadi, 27, and Nusaiba Shuaibu, 13yrs, all of Maitsauni village, Kankara LGA of Katsina State. The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Kankara led a team of Policemen to the village but before their arrival, the terrorists had already escaped with the victims. The injured Pastor was rushed to General Hospital, Kankara for treatment. Efforts are on with a view of arresting the hoodlums.”
