AIG FCID Annex Lagos Charges Officers on Professionalism, Discipline, and Adherence to Due Process

-

The Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) Annex, Lagos, AIG Simeon U. Akpanudom, has charged officers and men of the Department to maintain the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and strict adherence to due process in the discharge of their duties.

The charge was given during a general lecture and meeting with sectional heads and officers held at the FCID Annex, Alagbon Close, Ikoyi, Lagos, where critical operational and administrative issues affecting the efficiency and integrity of the Department were extensively discussed.
During the meeting, the AIG announced a ban on the operation of Point of Sale (POS) outlets within the FCID premises and its immediate vicinity, in line with directives from the Inspector-General of Police. He noted that such activities are incompatible with the security and operational integrity of the facility and are often exploited to facilitate corrupt practices.
AIG Akpanudom further directed that all intelligence reports must be thoroughly vetted and verified by sectional heads before submission. He also charged sectional heads to deliberately supervise their personnel and ensure strict compliance with professional standards to minimise incidents of misconduct.
On operational matters, the AIG made it clear that land-related disputes and cases are not to be entertained by the Department, emphasising that officers must strictly adhere to established investigative procedures in handling all criminal matters brought before the command.
Addressing issues of discipline and conduct, the AIG warned officers against any form of unprofessional behaviour, stressing that the Nigeria Police Force must always project a positive and credible image before the public. He urged officers and men to respect the hierarchy and uphold the established chain of command in the performance of their duties.
AIG Akpanudom, while aligning with the mission and vision of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, concluded by reiterating that acts of unprofessional conduct will not be tolerated and will attract appropriate disciplinary measures.
He encouraged officers to remain committed to integrity, accountability, and service to the nation.
