Assistant Inspector General of Police Idowu Owohunwa, alongside other AIGs and Senior Police, have been instructed by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee.
The Committee started sitting on the 10th of February 2025, and the committee is expected to end by the 13th of May 2025.
This is related to the ongoing investigation of the allegations levelled against Owohunawa and other AIGs and Commissioners of Police of falsification of their ages.
Securitynewsalert.com had earlier reported about the suspension of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) AbdulYari Shuayau Lafia over the alleged falsification of his age.

This was even as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, directed the Force Secretary to immediately investigate other AIGs, Commissioners of Police, and senior police officers mentioned in a petition by a group identified as Integrity Youth Alliance.
Officers mentioned in the petition received by the IGP for age falsification are AIG Abdul Yari, AIG Idowu Owohunwa, AIG Ben Igwe, CP Peter Ukachi Opara, CP Obo Obo Ukani, DCP Simon Asamber Lough (SAN) and ACP Akpan Brown.
The latest information, according to sources close to Securitynewsalert, is that these AIGs and CPs should begin to appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee.
The source said: “AP/No. 50645 Idowu Owohunwa, AP/No., 50703 AIG Benneth Igweh, AP/No. 41704 Aina Emmanuel, AP/No. 41741 CP Salama Wakili Abdul, AP/No. 46522 Adepoju Olugbenga Adewole, AP/No. 57917 DCP Simon Lough, to appear before the Force Disciplinary Committee sitting from 10th of February to the 13th of May 2025, from 10:am, at the IGP Conference Hall, 7th floor, Force Headquarters.”
