… CP Kanayo Receives Teams From The British Deputy High Commission, CBN

The Regional Security Adviser of the British Deputy High Commission for Lagos, Southern Nigeria, and the Republics of Togo and Benin, Mr. Dan Bean, has commended the Enugu State Police Command, under the leadership of Commissioner of Police (CP) Kanayo Uzuegbu, for the significant improvements in security across the State.

Mr. Bean acknowledged the Police Command’s efforts in combating criminal activities, emphasising that the prevailing security stability in Enugu State aligns with multiple reports ranking the State among the safest in the country.

He made these remarks during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police at the State Headquarters, GRA, Enugu, accompanied by the Commission’s Security Manager, Southern Nigeria, Mr. Shawn Ariwoju.

CP Kanayo warmly welcomed the diplomatic team and appreciated their encouraging remarks. He assured them of the Police Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the existing security momentum and ensuring maximum public security and safety in Enugu State. He further reiterated the Command’s readiness to collaborate with the British Deputy High Commission to enhance security measures in the State.

The Commissioner of Police similarly received and engaged with a delegation from the Enugu Branch of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), led by the Branch Controller, Mr. Justice Agbaeze.

The team, which included representatives from the apex bank’s legal services department, discussed the legal framework governing the Bank Verification Number (BVN) and how to obtain court orders and seamlessly process them at the CBN during police investigations of financial crimes.

Expressing gratitude for the informative session, CP Kanayo highlighted the importance of collaboration between law enforcement and financial institutions, especially in addressing the growing prevalence of financial crimes.

He assured the CBN representatives that the knowledge shared during the meeting would be effectively utilized to foster a seamless and productive working relationship between the Police Command and the apex bank.

The Commissioner of Police was joined by his management team and staff officers in receiving and interacting with the visiting delegations.
