The lives of police personnel working in Delta State may be in danger following a report that a Black Lexus Jeep, had already trailed and killed three policemen in the state.

This fear that the killers were fixated on taking out policemen was further underscored by the murder of Sergeant Lucky Inofogha of F/NO 456237.

Inofogha was in the company of a motorcyclist on the 8th of October 2022 when he was gunned down. The killers killed him but left the cyclist unharmed.

Securitynewsalert.com further heard that Inofogha was being taken home by the hired cyclist when the men in Black Lexus Jeep drew close to them and opened fire on him.

It will be recalled that since the #EndSARS Protest in 2020, police personnel had been targeted and killed. The killings have worsened especially in the southeast.

This year alone, many of them have been killed in what their colleagues alleged were deliberate killings, while a large number were killed while providing protection for politicians and pastors using bulletproof cars.

Securitynewsalert.com further gathered that the cyclist, home, has been identified as Sanni Gambo, 40. After sergeant Inofogha was gunned down, Gambo went to Ovwian Aladja Police Division to report the killing.

Again, at about 05:00 am, on the same date, AP/No 93991, a Superintendent of Police (SP), Abubakar Isiyaku, Unit Commander 36 PMF, Kebbi State, reported at Ovwian Aladja Police Division that two of his men, AP/No 329090, Inspector Ashiru Mohammed and AP/No 329178 Inspector Isah Tanimu, both attached to 36PMF, Kebbi State and posted to a beat within  Oruwhorun Community, Udu lga, were attacked and shot dead by a gang of armed hoodlums operating with a black Lexus Jeep.

A Police Situation Report sighted by Securitynewsalert.com, states: “At about 02:00 am, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of  Ovwian Aladja Division received information through one Sanni Gambo, a commercial tricycle operator that  F/No. 456237, Sergeant Lucky Inofogha, attached to Ovwian Aladja Division, who called him on phone,  requested that he should drive him to his home, was shot dead by a gang of armed hoodlums operating with a black Lexus Jeep, and registrations number of the jeep is unknown. This happened while he was taking him home. Consequently,  Supol Ovwian Aladja (DPO), instantly mobilised patrol teams and proceeded to the scene, where they found the lifeless body in a pool of his blood. His AK-47 rifle with breech number KO-35-7160 with 15 rounds of live ammunition was carted away by the hoodlums. Two empty shells of 7.62mm ammunition and two expended cartridges were recovered at the scene. Photographs were taken and the corpse was removed to Noble Private Mortuary, Ovwian for preservation and autopsy. The deceased who was on night duty, acting against several warnings, sneaked out of the station unknown to his team members, only to be shot dead.”

In the second incident, at about 5:PM, “AP/No, 93991, SP Abubakar Isiyaku, unit Commander, 36 PMF, Kebbi State, reported at Ovwian Aladja Division that two of his men, namely AP/No. 329090 Inspector Ashiru Mohammed, AP/No. 329178 Inspector Isah Tanimu, both attached to 36PMF, Kebbi State, posted to a beat within  Oruwhorun community, Udu lga, were attacked and shot dead by a gang of armed hoodlums operating with a Black Lexus Jeep and a Brown Venza car, both with unknown registration numbers, at about 1:30 am. One AK47 rifle, with breech No 16869, and one assault rifle with breech No 24032, 30 and 60 rounds of ammunition respectively were carted away from the deceased officers.

“Consequently, police detectives visited the scene and recovered two empty shells of 7.62mm ammunition and two expended cartridges. The remains of the deceased officers were deposited at Noble Private Mortuary for preservation and autopsy. An investigation has commenced and efforts intensified to arrest the hoodlums and recover the lost rifles. Patrol activities in the entire area have been heightened.”
