The All Progressives Congress (APC) has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, urging him to immediately arrest and investigate Mr. Abayomi Hunye over his alleged continued presentation of himself as the party’s governorship candidate for Ogun State in the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued by the party, the APC alleged that Hunye had been parading himself across various media platforms as its governorship candidate in Ogun State, describing the claim as an infringement that warranted police investigation.
The party said Hunye was suspended from the APC on April 7, 2026, following a written petition submitted by his ward, Tube Ward, in Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to the APC, the suspension was subsequently ratified by the Ogun State Working Committee and formally communicated to the party’s National Headquarters.
The party therefore called on the Nigeria Police Force to invite Hunye for questioning over what it described as “probable commission of offences against Nigerian laws and the Electoral Act 2026.”
The APC urged the Inspector General of Police to “immediately effect arrest” of Hunye and conduct a full-scale investigation into his activities and alleged claims.
The party also clarified that Senator Adeola Solomon Olamilekan and Balogun Kudirat Abiodun remain the APC’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates respectively in Ogun State for the 2027 elections.
The APC insisted that any contrary claim regarding the party’s candidates was false and should be investigated by the appropriate authorities.
