The Executive Director of Nigerian Army Farms and Ranches Limited (NAFARL), Major General Sinyinah Nicodemus, has underscored the importance of critical thinking as a vital requirement for informed decision-making, particularly in the effective management of resources.
Major General Nicodemus made this known on Friday, January 23, 2026, while addressing participants of the Leadership and Strategic Studies Course (LSSC) 4/25 during a one-day study visit to the NAFARL Headquarters in Giri, Abuja. The participants were drawn from the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC) as part of their nationwide study tour.
Speaking during the visit, the NAFARL Executive Director noted that critical thinking skills are indispensable to modern military leadership and strategy, especially in an increasingly complex security environment.
“Critical thinking is a fundamental criterion for making informed and effective decisions, particularly in resource management and modern military operations,” Major General Nicodemus said.
Welcoming the delegation, he expressed appreciation for their visit and confidence that it would be rewarding, adding that the engagement aligned with the theme of the study tour, “Critical Thinking Skills and Abilities: Essential for Modern Military Decision-Making.” He also commended the participants for their commitment to strengthening national security through research and analytical thinking.
Earlier, the Team Leader and Consultant/Directing Staff at NARC, Major General E.G. Ode (Rtd), explained that the visit was designed to expose participants to practical applications of strategic and leadership concepts.
“The objective of this visit is to bridge the gap between theory and practice in strategy, military leadership and national security,” Major General Ode said, urging participants to apply the lessons learned to their professional duties.
During the visit, the participants received comprehensive briefings on the activities, achievements and challenges of NAFARL. The delegation was coordinated by Brigadier General J.O. Majebi, alongside other senior directors and members of the directing staff.
Highlights of the study visit included detailed presentations, an interactive session, the exchange of souvenirs, a guided tour of the farm facilities, and a group photograph to mark the occasion.
The visit was described as insightful and beneficial in reinforcing the role of critical thinking in contemporary military decision-making.
