Police Arrest Three Suspects Over Stolen Tricycle in Enugu

-

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested three young men in connection with the theft of a Bajaj tricycle in the Trans-Ekulu area of Enugu.

According to a statement from the Command, officers attached to the Trans-Ekulu Division, working with the Neighbourhood Watch Group, acted on credible intelligence and apprehended the suspects on January 20, 2026, at about 5:00 p.m.

The suspects identified as Chuka Nwanze (23), Arinze Anyansi (24), and Miracle Anyadiegwu (24) were allegedly seeking a buyer for the stolen tricycle at Ugbodogwu, Trans-Ekulu.

The yellow-and-black tricycle, bearing Bauchi registration number NNG 445 WZ, was recovered from the suspects. During interrogation, the trio confessed to stealing the vehicle from where it was parked in the Obiagu area of Enugu on the night of January 19. They further admitted to vandalising the tricycle and selling off its three tyres, while attempting to dispose of the remaining parts before their arrest.

Police authorities confirmed that discreet investigations are ongoing to track down other members of the suspected tricycle theft syndicate and recover additional stolen items. The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has urged vehicle owners to remain vigilant. He advised motorists to install basic security features on their vehicles to deter theft and aid in the identification and recovery of stolen property.
