The Enugu State Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, convened a high-level strategic conference on April 13, 2026, at the Command Headquarters.
During the session, the CP issued a stern mandate to senior and supervisory officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism in line with the marching orders of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu.
Addressing the assembly of Deputy and Assistant Commissioners, Area Commanders, and Divisional Police Officers, CP Giwa emphasised that respect for the rights and dignity of citizens remains non-negotiable. He warned that any deviation from ethical conduct would be met with swift disciplinary sanctions, charging leaders to proactively sensitise their subordinates on the consequences of misconduct.
Specific directives were issued to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and various investigative units to ensure the diligent handling of case files.
The CP highlighted the necessity of the timely release of suspects in bailable matters and underscored the importance of thorough, professional prosecution for more serious offences.
To strengthen the state’s security apparatus, the Assistant Commissioner in charge of the State Intelligence Department (SID) was tasked with refining the gathering and deployment of actionable intelligence. Simultaneously, Area Commanders were told to tighten supervision over their respective divisions to prevent security breaches before they occur.
The conference featured a notable appearance by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 13, AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo, who joined the meeting during an unscheduled visit to Enugu. AIG Oladipo commended the officers for their role in the zone’s recent successes but reminded them that maintaining dedication and discipline are essential to sustaining public trust.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from the command’s tactical and operational heads to ensure that Enugu State remains a stronghold of law and order through proactive, intelligence-led policing. #Securitynewsalert.com
