The Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Audu Garba Bosso, has directed tactical commanders and senior officers in the state to intensify security operations and maintain heightened vigilance to curb crime.
Bosso gave the directive on March 13, 2026, during a strategic security meeting with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), and Tactical Team Commanders at the Imo State Police Command.
During the meeting, the police commissioner charged the officers to uphold professionalism and proactive policing while responding promptly to distress calls.
He also stressed the importance of respecting citizens’ fundamental human rights while enforcing the law.
According to him, the command will begin strict enforcement against the use of covered number plates, vehicles without number plates, illegal use of sirens and revolving lights, as well as tinted glasses on commercial vehicles without proper permits.
Bosso warned that anyone found violating the regulations would be arrested and prosecuted.
“As part of efforts to strengthen security across the state, the command will intensify joint show-of-force operations with other security agencies and increase police visibility at strategic locations to deter criminal activities,” he said.
The police commissioner reassured residents of the command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging citizens to remain vigilant and law-abiding.
He also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious movements or activities to the police through the emergency lines: 0803 477 3600 and 0814 802 4755.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, Henry Okoye. #Securitynewsalert.com
