CP Delta Orders Arrest Of Member Of Vigilante Group For Shooting, Killing Undergraduate

The commissioner of Police, Delta State Police Command, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, has ordered the arrest of one Ike Peter, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria in Ogwashi-Uku, who allegedly shot and killed a student of Ogwashi-Uku Polytechnic, later identified as 29-year-old Peter Eyorowalebo.

 

The Police spokesman, Bright Edafe said that on the 30th of April 2025, at about 9:30 pm, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Ogwashi-Uku received a distress call that the suspect, Ike Peter, a member of vigilante group of Nigeria, shot and killed the victim in his room while he was reading and preparing for exams.

Edafe said: “The DPO swiftly mobilised to the scene, and found the victim in a pool of his blood. The deceased was taken to the hospital and was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty.

“His body has been deposited at the mortuary for autopsy. The Suspect, Peter Ike, was immediately arrested, and on the instructions of the commissioner of Police, the suspect was transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for discreet investigation.

“The Commissioner of Police has ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the State Criminal Investigation Department, to take over the case and ensure that a thorough investigation is carried out.

“The CP, while condoling with the family of the deceased and students of the Polytechnic, also advised them to remain calm as no stone will be left unturned, assuring them of Justice.”
