The Commissioner of Police, Borno State Police Command, CP Mohammed Lawal Yusufu, urges the displaced flood victims in Maiduguri to maintain composure and tranquillity in response to the events of today, 20th September 2024.
At approximately 7:am, reports emerged of displaced individuals obstructing traffic at the Baga Road junction, citing perceived neglect in the provision of relief assistance and humanitarian aid.
CP ML Yusufu, in his address to the affected individuals, pacified the situation and underscored the importance of patience, assuring that the Borno State Government, in partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), and other humanitarian organizations, has instituted essential relief measures for their benefit.
The CP cautioned that impeding the flow of traffic on major thoroughfares would exacerbate the situation, potentially compromising sustainable peace in the state and impeding relief operations.
The Displaced victims have been issued token cards to receive government-distributed palliatives. The public is encouraged to conduct their lawful activities without apprehension, as the command remains steadfast in upholding law and order.
