The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Samuel E. Erale, has called for stronger inter-agency collaboration and intelligence sharing to address security challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections and during the ember months.
Erale made the call on October 16, 2026, during courtesy visits to the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Command 5.2 in Delta State.
The visits formed part of his ongoing familiarisation tour aimed at strengthening security coordination and cooperation among law enforcement and other relevant agencies across the state.
During his visit to the NSCDC State Command, the police commissioner met with the State Commandant, Chinedu F. Igbo, where he emphasised the need for improved intelligence sharing, joint operations and proactive security planning ahead of the forthcoming general elections.
He noted that effective coordination between the Police and the NSCDC would be crucial in identifying and addressing emerging electoral security threats, as well as ensuring a peaceful electoral process.
At the FRSC Sector Command 5.2, Erale met with the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Charles E. Edem, to discuss road safety and traffic management challenges expected during the ember months.
He called for closer cooperation between the Police and the FRSC in traffic control, congestion management and road safety enforcement, particularly along major highways and other busy routes.
The commissioner stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to ensure the free flow of traffic, prevent road crashes and protect motorists and other road users during the period, which is often characterised by increased vehicular movement.
Erale expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship between the Police and sister security agencies, reaffirming the Delta State Police Command’s commitment to sustained collaboration, mutual support and coordinated security operations.
He said such partnerships remained essential to maintaining law and order, protecting lives and property, and enhancing public safety across Delta State.
