The Delta State Police Command has arrested a husband and his wife for gunrunning.
The Police spokesman in the State, Bright Edafe said that at about 2:20 pm, operatives of CP – Special Assignment Team ( CP – SAT ) acting on credible intelligence, carried out a sting operation at the residence of Mr and Mrs Joshua Bogbon Godwell, located at Okpe LG of Delta State.
Upon their arrest, a fabricated Barretta pistol with a single live ammunition planned to be delivered to a client in Sapele was recovered.
The wife, Mrs Uche Joshua, has admitted to being the dispatcher and she confessed to having delivered several arms as directed by her husband to various clients within Warri and Sapele.
Edafe said: “Further investigation also led to the arrest of one Junior Moses Ogedegbe ‘m’ 30yrs of Useifurun community in Ughelli South LGA of Delta State who is also a member of their gang. Efforts to recover other arms and arrest more suspects are ongoing.”
In another development, the command, in a bid to curtail the incessant cases of cultism, and kidnapping around Mosogar and its environs, acted on intelligence gathered on the activities of suspected kidnappers and armed robbers and swung into action.
Edafe said: “Operatives of CP Special Assignment team on the 9th of March 2025, at about 6:30 pm, stormed Jesse and Mosogar towns where they affected the arrest of 26-year-old Festus Oboyo of Igbopa community in Ethiope West LGA Delta State, a notorious, suspected kidnapper, internet fraudster, in whose possession a locally made gun with a single cartridge was recovered. “Upon further search of his apartment, an “FBI “ impersonated enlargement carrying his picture which he used for his internet fraud was also recovered. Other members of his gang which include 29-year-old Favour Omowo alias Voltage of Jesse town in Ethiope West LGA Delta State and 26-year-old Gift Omowo of Jesse community in Ethiope West LGA Delta State were also arrested. Trailing of his other fleeing gang members is on course while the investigation is ongoing.”
