*Disu Calls for Inclusive Future for Nigerian Children*

-

The National President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Chief Mrs Oluwafunmilola Mutiat Disu, has called for stronger commitment to the protection, education, and inclusion of every Nigerian child.

Speaking at the 2026 National Children’s Day celebration on Tuesday, May 26, Chief Mrs Disu said the theme, *“Future Now: Promoting Inclusion for Every Nigerian Child,”* highlights the need to give all children equal access to education, opportunity, protection, and hope.

“The future is now. Every child carries the power to dream, learn, and lead,” she said.

She reaffirmed POWA’s commitment to supporting children, especially those of police officers, stressing that education remains one of the greatest investments in the nation’s future.

Chief Mrs Disu disclosed that POWA had awarded 20 scholarships across its schools, benefiting pupils in 19 primary schools and one secondary school, particularly children of fallen police officers.

She also commended the Force Education Unit for reducing school fees for children of junior-ranking officers and pledged continued support for initiatives that improve access to education.

Addressing children, she urged them to remain focused on their studies and avoid social vices such as drug abuse, cultism, cybercrime, and violence.

“Choose discipline, integrity, compassion, and excellence. The choices you make today will shape your future,” she advised.

The POWA President also remembered children displaced by insecurity and called for their safe rescue and return, while appreciating teachers and caregivers for their dedication.

She urged Nigerians to work towards building a society where every child feels protected, empowered, and valued.

Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) is a support and advocacy organisation committed to the welfare of police families, women, and children across Nigeria.
