… Traumatised mom catches husband having sex with daughter
Dr. Alade Oyedeji, with the Mirabel Centre, Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, in the ongoing case of the Commissioner of Police Versus Godwin Anukwa, has given evidence on how Anukwa sexually violated his daughter.
It will be recalled that Godwin Anukwa is standing trial after being accused of defilement by his wife. He is alleged to have sexually violated his daughter and son.
The case has been followed and monitored by Advocates For Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), which is determined to get justice for the abused child.
The case was again heard on the 29th of April 2025. Anukwa is being prosecuted at the Lagos State Sexual and Special Offences Court, GRA, Ikeja.
Oyeseji told the court that the victim claimed her father on several occasions, put his finger in her private part, which caused her to become unhappy and withdrawn, unwilling to talk when she went for medical examination at Mirabel LASUTH Ikeja.
According to the doctor, on examination, the survivor’s private part showed significant penetration, had no hymen, and the lower portion of the genitalia was null.
According to the doctor, client who accompanied the survivor gave account, that when the victim was one year plus, she have suffered vaginal discharge, further underscoring that she must have been sexually assaulted.
The client said that in 2017, the child repeatedly complained of pain in the genital area while being bathed. As she grew up, growing up, she became more aggressive and apprehensive.
The client said the child’s father has been putting his finger in her private part, and the case was reported to the police.
The doctor said that examination findings are consistent with repeated forceful penetration into her private part, the finding is consistent with finger and penile account.
The Doctor issued a medical report on 16th Sept, 2019 issued which was admitted by the court as Exhibit A1 as the court pleases.
The centre manager acknowledged the report on 25th September, 2019, administratively. The survivor’s mother gave a verbal account that she caught her husband having sex with their daughter.
Case Adjourned To 10th June, 2025.
