A medical doctor has taken to his Twitter handle to narrate how some policemen along Idumukpoko Junction in Delta State, flagged him down demanding N100, 000.

The Twitter handle user, Dr. Henry @nneji_henry, said that the encounter made to develop hatred for his country Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Bright Edafe, swiftly reacting to the angry post of the doctor, revealed that the policemen had been arrested and were going through an orderly room trial.

The doctor tweeted: “I’ve never had a cause to talk so bitterly against the Nigerian police but for today.  I’m a medical doctor travelling from Edo State to Onitsha. I was stopped by this group of the Nigerian police, got my baggage searched and they saw some medicines I’m currently on. Funnily enough, I was the one who innocently opened the drug pocket to them.  Police immediately tagged my medicines as controlled drugs and requested I paid N100,000 to bail myself.  I tried calling my consultants and our resident doctors association but had my phone seized. We were in the middle of nowhere they brought out handcuffs and brought the threat game on. The head of the “gang” said nobody was coming to save me from here.  These guys finally made away with my money N50,000.00 cash. Today, I developed extreme hatred for a country I call mine because of the elements we have as security agents. Please, you must locate this group of criminals and retrain them. Location is idumukpoko junction Delta state.”

Responding also via tweet, Edafe said: “The orderly room trial has commenced. I have spoken with the Adoctor who told me he can’t make it for now. He, however, told me that the money he gave to the policemen is N5,000 not N50,000 as he earlier tweeted. He said he tweeted N50,000 because he was angry. I appreciate his honesty.”
