The Force Commander of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), Brigadier General Danjuma Ribah Dantani, has charged Ghanaian troops serving under the mission to sustain their high level of operational readiness and remain committed to professionalism, discipline and teamwork.
Brigadier General Dantani gave the charge on Wednesday during an operational visit to Ghana Company 5 (GHANCOY 5) at the Company’s Headquarters in Bissau as part of his ongoing inspection of contingents participating in the regional peace support mission.
Addressing the troops, the Force Commander praised the operational posture of the contingent, describing it as consistent with the mission’s expectations.
“You must sustain the high level of operational readiness observed in the camp,” Dantani said. “The posture is consistent with the Combat Team Commander’s mission, which is anchored on professionalism and discipline.”
He also stressed the importance of strict compliance with established operational procedures and collective responsibility in achieving the mission’s objectives.
“The need for all personnel to adhere strictly to laid-down instructions and work collectively as a team towards the effective attainment of the ECOWAS mandate cannot be overemphasised,” he said.
The Force Commander commended the Combat Team Commander for his leadership within a short period and congratulated officers of the company who were recently promoted.
Earlier, the Combat Team Commander of GHANCOY 5, Lieutenant Colonel Leonard Kweku Danful, welcomed the Force Commander and briefed him on the company’s pre-deployment training, administration, operational activities, logistics and ongoing training programmes.
The visit forms part of Brigadier General Dantani’s operational assessment of ESSMGB contingents and underscores his commitment to strengthening leadership, maintaining operational readiness and ensuring that all participating forces remain focused, disciplined and prepared to effectively execute the ECOWAS stabilisation mandate in Guinea-Bissau.
