The Edo State Police Command has confirmed an incident of malicious damage and thuggery at the African Democratic Party (ADC) State Secretariat in Benin City.
According to the command, the attack occurred at about 8:55 p.m. on February 4, 2026, when suspected hoodlums invaded the party’s premises and began destroying property. A distress call was promptly made to the Control Room in Benin, leading to the swift deployment of police operatives who restored order at the scene.
Preliminary assessment revealed damage to party flags and two shattered windows. Security personnel have since been stationed at the secretariat to prevent further attacks, while investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible.
The command commended the timely call to the Control Room, stressing that it helped avert greater destruction. It urged residents to continue reporting emergencies through its dedicated lines and warned miscreants that anyone found culpable will face the full weight of the law.
