Staff of Special Control Unit against Money Laundering, SCUML, on Friday, August 1, 2025, showered encomiums on their former Director, Daniel Isei, who is now the Zonal Director, Ilorin Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Isei was recently transferred to Ilorin after serving for four years at SCUML as the longest-serving Director.
At a send-forth party organised in his honour, SCUML Director, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Harry Erin, described him as a great and resourceful leader, whose legacy in the Unit is unquantifiable. He pointed out that Isei is a leader with passion who served the Unit with his whole heart and brought his technical expertise to bear while steering the Unit’s ship.
He tasked the staff to always imbibe the work ethics of Isei, stating that, “you cannot be a good leader if you are not a good follower. If you are to leave SCUML today, what will you be remembered for?”
Erin said it was “ a privilege to honour a great man who served with his heart, nd where he is today is a stepping stone to where he is going. Today, I want you to join me to recognise this great man.”
Earlier, Head, Registration and Outreach Programme, DCE Paschal J. Samu, described Isei as a patient man and hardworking who achieved a lot during his tenure. “He made tremendous achievements and we will greatly miss him,” he said.
Every staff member of the Unit shared their minds on the good conduct of the transferred Director, and many of them said that Isei “is kindhearted and more tolerant, has a good working relationship with the staff and a stabilising force in his time in SCUML.
Responding, Isei appreciated the tremendous show of love and appreciation from the staff of the Unit and encouraged the officers to continue to uphold the integrity of the Commission and SCUML.
He linked his achievements in the Unit with teamwork work which he described as the bedrock of every achievement and success in every institution. “Whatever you said that I achieved was teamwork, and no Director can do it alone, without your support and encouragement. Leadership is teamwork, so continue to work as a team, as a family and let that bonding between you continue to flow,” he said.
He also called for knowledge sharing among them, charging them to continue “to be friends, family and as a team and let us also continue to uphold the integrity of the EFCC and the SCUML”.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of the SCUML plaque to Isei.
