Enugu CP Orders Tighter Security Ahead of Festive Season, Warns Officers Against Lapses

-

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed senior and supervisory officers to intensify crime-prevention and law-enforcement efforts across the state as the festive season approaches.

Giwa issued the directive during the Command’s monthly strategic security conference held at the Senior Police Officers’ Mess, Agbani Road, Enugu, where he cautioned that lapses of any kind would not be tolerated.

At the meeting, the Commissioner briefed officers on key outcomes of the recent Inspector-General of Police Strategic Senior Police Officers’ Conference in Abuja. He reiterated the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, which aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s instruction on the withdrawal of police personnel attached to private individuals and their redeployment to core policing duties.

Giwa stressed that all IGP directives particularly those concerning effective security management during the Yuletide must be strictly implemented. He noted that residents of Enugu State, including those in the diaspora, as well as visitors and travellers, are relying on the Police for their safety throughout the season.

He warned supervisory officers to ensure full compliance with all existing security guidelines for the festive period and beyond.

The conference was attended by Deputy and Assistant Commissioners of Police, Area Commanders, Heads of Formations, Operational and Tactical Commanders, and Sectional Heads across the Command.
