NSCDC Lagos Hosts 6th Public Relations Clinic, Highlights Cybersecurity as Key to Ending Economic Sabotage

-

The Lagos State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has held the sixth edition of its quarterly Public Relations Clinic, a strategic forum aimed at strengthening the Corps’ public engagement, professional capacity and organisational image.

The event, organised by the Public Relations Unit of the Command, took place on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Works, opposite TBS, Lagos. It drew seasoned experts and senior stakeholders from academia, security institutions, technology sectors, financial services, and public affairs management.

Top speakers included the Lagos State Commandant of NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro (represented by Deputy Commandant of Corps Afuye Toyin), Professor Adedeji Oyenuga of Lagos State University, Associate Professor Waziri Adisa of the University of Lagos, Vice Chairman of the Lagos NIPR Chapter Mrs Eniola Mayowa, U.S. Army veteran Mr Abiodun Oseni, former Computer Village Association President Dr Ojikutu Adeniyi, Sterling Bank CSO Mr Michael Boniface, former Coker Aguda LCDA Chairman Hon. Olamilekan Ibrahim, and ICPC spokesperson Mrs Mary Omonoyan. Representatives from the DSS, Fibre One, ICPC, Nigerian Correctional Service, and Federal Fire Service also participated.

Other notable attendees included Mr Matthew Ibadin, CEO of Badinson Security Limited, and GT Pensions Managers led by Mr Michael Lafulu.

In his remarks, the representative of the Commandant reaffirmed the NSCDC’s mandate to protect critical national assets and infrastructure, noting that cybersecurity tools are now indispensable in combating vandalism, sabotage and other emerging threats. He emphasised that the Corps continues to invest in training and retraining personnel on modern technologies to enhance intelligence gathering and operational efficiency.

Delivering the lead lecture titled “Cyber Security: A Panacea to Ending Economic Sabotage in Nigeria – The Role of NSCDC,” Professor Oyenuga stressed the need for the Corps to deepen collaboration with cybersecurity institutions, expand public awareness, and strengthen internal capacity to effectively safeguard national assets.

Lead discussant Dr Waziri Adisa argued that addressing economic sabotage also requires broader socio-economic interventions, including expanding employment opportunities, empowering youth and improving the nation’s enabling environment.

Area B Commander, ACC Michael Anerunoye, delivered the summary of the clinic, urging participants to apply the insights gained to enhance their operational and administrative duties across formations in the state.

The quarterly PR Clinic has become a key platform for knowledge exchange within the NSCDC, contributing to improved professionalism, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and alignment with the Corps’ mandate and policy directives under the leadership of the Commandant General, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi.
