Enugu CP Vows Continued Crackdown on Criminals as Armed Robbery Suspect Nabbed

-

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, psc, has reiterated his firm resolve to intensify efforts in combating criminal activities across the state. This declaration follows the arrest of a 42-year-old armed robbery suspect, Chinweuba Edeh, who allegedly robbed a Point of Sale (POS) operator at gunpoint.

According to police reports, the incident occurred on October 17, 2025, at approximately 6:40 a.m. at Oriemba Akpugo Market in Nkanu West Local Government Area. The female victim promptly alerted authorities, leading to a swift response by operatives of the Nkanu West (Agbani) Police Division. The suspect was apprehended the same day, and a locally made double-barrelled pistol loaded with two live cartridges was recovered from him.

Edeh is expected to be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
In a statement, CP Giwa emphasised the Command’s unwavering commitment to ridding the state of violent criminals and urged residents to remain vigilant and law-abiding. He encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station or contact the Command through its emergency hotlines: 08032003702, 08086671202, or the Enugu State Command and Control Centre via 112, 09134666668, and 09134448093.
