Enugu Joint Security Forces Rescue Kidnapped Woman, Neutralise Suspect

-

The Enugu State Police Command, alongside the Nigerian Army and local security groups, successfully rescued a kidnapped female victim and neutralised one suspect in the Udenu Local Government Area on April 3, 2026.

The mission followed a distress call regarding an abduction that occurred around 3:30 p.m. in the Ezimo community.

Acting on the direct orders of Commissioner of Police CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, the Udenu Divisional Police Officer led a joint team of police officers, soldiers, Neighbourhood Watch members, and Forest Guards.

The team tracked the kidnappers to the Agu Orba Forest along the Ohebe-Orba axis. Upon contact, the suspects opened fire on the operatives, who responded with superior force, killing one suspect while others escaped into the dense forest with severe gunshot wounds.

The kidnapped victim was rescued unharmed and has since been debriefed and reunited with her family. During a search of the scene, security forces recovered five rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition, a long machete, a short dagger, four mobile phones, and various survival items, including four torchlights, two power banks, memory cards, and ₦51,700 in cash. Assorted food items and clothing materials were also found at the suspects’ hideout.

CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa praised the bravery and synergy displayed by the various security agencies involved in the rescue. While intensive operations remain underway to apprehend the fleeing criminals, the Command has reaffirmed its commitment to clearing the state of violent elements and continues to urge residents to provide timely information to assist in ongoing security efforts. #Securitynewsalert.com
