Enugu Police Arrests Suspects, Recovers Firearms, Snatched Motorcycle, Other Exhibits

-

The Enugu State Police Command has continued to record significant breakthroughs in its ongoing onslaught against armed robbery and related criminal activities. This follows the arrest of two armed robbers and related offences, and the recovery of firearms and a snatched motorcycle in two separate operations.

On 1st October 2025, police operatives attached to Nenwe and Owelle-Court Divisions, working with members of the Neighbourhood Watch and Forest Guards, arrested one Okonkwo Chukwuebuka, aged 27, for armed robbery, while his cohort escaped. Preliminary investigation reveals that on 30th September 2025, the suspect and his fleeing accomplice boarded a commercial motorcycle in Nenwe community, Aninri LGA, and along the way robbed the rider at gunpoint. They were later intercepted while attempting to escape upon sighting security operatives. One cut-to-size gun and the snatched motorcycle were recovered from the suspect.

In another operation, on 28th September 2025, at about 10:00 a.m., operatives of the Command’s Octopus Squad, acting on intelligence, arrested one male suspect, Ibe Christian, aged 27. A locally fabricated Beretta-like pistol and a dagger were recovered from him, while further discreet investigation is ongoing.

The suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are concluded.

The Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, commended the dedication and synergy exhibited by the police operatives and other security stakeholders in these operations. He urged residents of the State to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and continue to support the Police with credible information to rid Enugu State of criminal elements.
