FCT Police Commissioner Receives FIDA Delegation on Courtesy Visit

The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, PhD., FCAI, on Tuesday received a delegation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA), Abuja Branch, led by its Chairperson, Chioma Onyenucheya-Uko, Esq., at the Command Headquarters in Garki II, Abuja.

During the visit, Onyenucheya-Uko commended the FCT Police Command for its efforts in maintaining law and order across the Territory. She expressed FIDA’s readiness to collaborate with the Command in strengthening community confidence, safeguarding the rights of vulnerable groups, and promoting a more effective justice delivery system.

The Chairperson further requested the deployment of dedicated Gender Desk Officers to work closely with FIDA in handling cases involving sexual and gender-based violence, as well as other matters affecting vulnerable persons.

In his response, CP Sanusi appreciated the delegation’s visit and assured them of the Command’s commitment to partnerships that uphold justice, protect human rights, and enhance public safety. He reaffirmed the readiness of the FCT Police Command to support initiatives aimed at protecting vulnerable persons and building public trust through strategic collaboration and community engagement.

To reinforce this commitment, the Commissioner directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ibrahim Jibril, to immediately deploy Gender Desk Officers to liaise with FIDA Abuja Branch and strengthen coordination in the investigation and handling of cases involving vulnerable persons.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared commitment to institutional cooperation that enhances public safety, access to justice, and community confidence within the Federal Capital Territory.
