The Lagos State Police Command and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) have reaffirmed their commitment to collaboration ahead of the 2027 General Elections to ensure peaceful, free, fair, and credible polls in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, received officials of INEC on a courtesy visit at the Command Headquarters in Ikeja, Lagos.
The INEC delegation was led by the Lagos State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Prof. Abayomi Salami, who congratulated the police commissioner on his appointment and sought continued cooperation from the Command as preparations for the 2027 elections begin to gather momentum.
Salami emphasised the need for sustained synergy between INEC and security agencies to guarantee a peaceful electoral process and maintain public confidence in the democratic system.
Responding, CP Fatai appreciated the visit and stressed the importance of inter-agency collaboration in strengthening democracy and ensuring electoral security.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the Lagos State Police Command to provide adequate security support and respond positively to all lawful requests from INEC in the discharge of its constitutional responsibilities.
