Five Suspects Arrested as Enugu Police Smashes Armed Robbery, ‘One-Chance’ Syndicate

-

Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command have arrested five suspects linked to a notorious syndicate specialising in armed robbery and “one-chance” operations following a series of coordinated investigations conducted between November 22nd and December 1st, 2025.

The breakthrough operation, spearheaded by the Command’s Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad, resulted in the apprehension of Ikechukwu Patrick (m, 19), Odoh David (m, 21), Izuchukwu Ogbodo (m, 37), Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu (m, 39), and Justina Dike (f, 37).

According to a statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, ANIPR, MNISMA, the exhibits recovered from the suspects include an imitation gun, four stolen tricycles (Keke NAPEP), a scissor blade, multiple master keys, and several SIM cards.

The investigation commenced on November 22nd, 2025, with the arrest of suspects Ikechukwu Patrick and Odoh David, who were apprehended with the assistance of the local Neighbourhood Watch Group. An imitation gun and a scissor blade were recovered from them.

“The two suspects confessed to being members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and admitted that the recovered items were intended for armed robbery,” SP Ndukwe stated.

Their confession quickly led operatives to the arrest of Izuchukwu Ogbodo, who was found in possession of six master keys and five MTN SIM cards.

Further interrogation of Odoh David revealed a wider criminal network. Odoh confessed to stealing tricycles across the Awkunanaw area of Enugu using master keys. He also admitted to being an active member of a ‘one-chance’ syndicate responsible for dispossessing unsuspecting commuters of their valuables.

His statement led to the arrest of Justina Dike and Charles Ekenechukwu Egwuatu. Justina Dike confessed to participating in ‘one-chance’ operations with Charles and Odoh. She also admitted to receiving the stolen items, including tricycles, in exchange for hard drugs at New Garriki.

The confessions facilitated the recovery of four BAJAJ RE tricycles. Their registration numbers identified two, JRV 461 WZ and ENU 018 VG, while the other two had no visible registration marks.

Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa, PSC, commended the operatives for their diligent efforts and has directed them to ensure that every individual connected to the syndicate is arrested and more exhibits are recovered.

The CP reiterated the Command’s commitment to maintaining security and safety across Enugu State during the festive season and beyond, urging residents to remain vigilant, law-abiding, and cooperative with the Police.

The suspects are currently undergoing further investigations and will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion.
