Former DSS Director lauds Service for arresting ISWAP’s Commander

-

A retired State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), Mr. Mike Ejiofor, has congratulated the foremost domestic intelligence agency over the arrest of one Abdulmumin Ibrahim Otaru (aka Abu Mikdad), a commander of the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) and suspected mastermind of the bomb explosion that rocked Okene, Kogi State, on 29th December last year.

The ISWAP commander was arrested alongside his associate known as Saidu Suleiman.

Commenting on the issue, the security expert opined: “It speaks to the efficiency of the Service, and that technology is key in the fight against these crimes. And I believe too that people played a major role in giving information, in addition to technology. This is because technology alone cannot do it. So, what it means is that you need the support of the people to make a success in fighting these crimes. You need the cooperation and assistance of the people, in addition to the technology deployed, to ensure these crimes are ended. The SSS should be commended. In fact, I congratulate them on that feat. You know they have been doing many things like that.”

Ejiofor further said: “Remember the people, who went to bomb (a Catholic Church) in Ondo. They have been so many such feats carried out, not only by the SSS but also by other security agencies.  But, you know that the SSS is the lead intelligence agency. They also collaborate and give intelligence to other security agencies, in fighting these violent crimes.”
