FRSC Probes Viral Video of Officers in Altercation with Driver in Edo

-

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has launched an immediate investigation into a viral video depicting an altercation between its officers and a motorist in Edo State.

The incident occurred along Abudu on Saturday, October 25, 2025, and gained widespread attention after footage circulated on social media.

In a press release issued Sunday, Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed condemned the incident, expressing “deep concern” over the confrontation. He has ordered a full investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the event.

The statement, signed by Assistant Corps Marshal and Corps Public Education Officer Olusegun Ogungbemide, reiterated the Corps’ commitment to professionalism.

“The Corps does not condone any form of unprofessional conduct or behaviour that undermines the integrity and discipline for which the FRSC is known,” the statement read.

The Corps Marshal assured the public that “appropriate disciplinary measures will be taken against any officer found culpable,” in accordance with the FRSC’s operational guidelines and public service rules.

While the investigation is underway, the FRSC has appealed to the motoring public to “remain calm” and continue to cooperate with its personnel.

However, the Corps also warned that it “will also not tolerate any form of assault or violence against its personnel from members of the public in the course of duty.”
