Governor Alia Condemns Kwande Killings, Orders Security Agencies to Arrest Perpetrators

-

The Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, has strongly condemned the killing of 12 people in communities in Kwande Local Government Area, describing the attack as barbaric and unacceptable.

The victims were reportedly killed in Tyungu Jam and Mbaav communities located in the Yaav and Mbadura council wards of the local government area, while several others sustained injuries during the attack.

In a statement issued by his Technical Adviser on Media, Publicity and Strategic Communication, Solomon Iorpev, the governor expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families.

Governor Alia said the killings were “barbaric, senseless and unacceptable,” stressing that the lives lost were precious and that his administration would ensure justice is served.

“Every life matters, and we will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for these heinous killings are apprehended and held accountable,” the governor said.

He assured residents of Kwande and the entire Benue State that the government remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, noting that his administration would not be deterred by those working against peace in the state.

The governor also acknowledged the recent deployment of more than 400 security personnel to Jato Aka and other parts of Kwande, but observed that the latest attacks show that additional security efforts may be required.

Governor Alia, however, urged residents of the affected communities to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as they intensify operations to restore peace to the area.

“The complexities of insecurity are challenging but not insurmountable. We will stop at nothing to ensure that absolute peace returns to Benue State, particularly Kwande,” he said. #securitynewsalert.com
