Zulum Demands Urgent Action as Terror Resurgence Hits Borno Communities

-

Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has issued a high-priority directive to Nigeria’s security forces, demanding an immediate crackdown on the “renewed activities” of Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgents currently destabilising the state’s borders.

The Governor made the call during a sombre sympathy visit to the Ngoshe community in Gwoza Local Government Area, which was devastated by a brutal attack last Wednesday. Reports from the ground indicate that scores of residents were killed and several others abducted during the raid.

Standing amidst the affected residents, Governor Zulum emphasised that the security architecture must evolve to meet the shifting tactics of terrorists operating within the rugged terrain of the Mandara Mountains.

“We cannot afford to let the progress we have made slip away,” Governor Zulum stated. “I am calling on our security agencies to nip this resurgence in the bud. We must be proactive in neutralising these threats before they regain a foothold in our liberated communities.”

The visit to Ngoshe was marked by grief as the Governor assessed the extent of the damage. The Mandara Mountains, which border Cameroon, have long provided a strategic hideout for insurgents, and recent weeks have seen a spike in sightings and localised attacks.

Addressing the survivors, Zulum offered condolences while underscoring the urgency of the situation:  “The heart of the government bleeds for the people of Ngoshe. This attack is a reminder that the enemy is still lurking in the fringes. Our security forces must intensify their operations specifically around the Mandara Mountains to ensure the safety of our farmers and villagers.” #securitynewsalert.com
