In the early hours of Monday, the 4th of September, 2022, the men of the Katsina State Police repelled terrorists’ attack at the Kankia Local Government Area of the state.
At about 02:30 p.m, a distress call was received that terrorists numbering 11, on motorcycles armed with AK47 rifles attacked the residence of 60 years old Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi Tafashiya.
The terrorists abducted him to an unknown destination. Immediately after the incident was reported to the Police, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Kankia led a tactical unit to the area.
After blocking the hoodlums at Juga village, the team of officers engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
Consequently, the hoodlums were successfully repelled and the kidnapped victim was rescued unhurt.
Also, two terrorists were neutralised and one of their operational motorcycles was recovered. Investigation to unravel more details about this incident is currently been carried out by men of the Katsina State Police Command.
In another development, a notorious India hemp trafficker, Abdulrazak Ajibade, 58, has been arrested by men and officers of the Katsina State Police Command.
The arrest took place at about 4:00 p.m, on the 4th of September, 2022, 185 neatly sealed parcels of dried leaves reasonably suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered inside the vehicles during the search by Police.
The suspect who is a native of Ofa LGA of Kwara State was arrested along Katsina-Dutsinma Road, in a maroon-coloured Volkswagen car with registration number JBY 311 AA.
The suspect was apprehended based on credible intelligence. The suspect has admitted to committing the crime and is assisting the Police with their investigations. The Police are continuing with their investigations.
