The Lagos State Police Command today 27th of March revealed how it worked tenaciously to ensure the arrest of two different gangs that kidnapped a single victim in the state and collected ransom.

The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, who disclosed this during the parade of suspects and show of exhibits recovered from criminal suspects at the Lagos Police Headquarters, said that the arrest of the kidnappers would not have been possible if not for the victim was smart enough to recall a lady pointing at him before the first set of kidnappers swooped on him.

It was gathered that after the first set of kidnappers forced him to transfer the sum of N400,000 from him, they handed him to another set, which demanded N6.4 million as ransom.

Narrating the incident, Fayoade said: “This is a case that deals with kidnapping which happened on February 20, 2024, where three men, one in military uniform accosted a young man and subsequently abducted him in a Honda Salon car and demanded ransom.

“The victim then transferred the sum of N400,000 to his abductors before he was released to another group who took him away in their Toyota Camry car, obtained him of his Diamond earrings, gold earrings, Cartier wristwatch, and iPhone 12 pro max and then demanded a ransom of N6.4million, a friend of the victim paid money to the abductors.

“Upon reporting of the case, luckily, the victim was able to identify a young lady whom he saw pointing at him before the incident.  The investigation led to the arrest of Zara Onyesom, 28, Abayomi Olalere Ishola, 28,  Chima Cyril Collins, 29, Oluwasheun Illre, 40 and Ayodabo Olumuyiwa Muyideen, 38.

“One Honda Salon car and Toyota Camry car were recovered. All items obtained from the victim were also recovered and handed over to him.  The case has been charged to court.”
