A 32-year-old Ogechi Isaiah, has ran to Advocates For Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), pleading that the human rights group should help her in getting justice.
According to her, she lost an eye after her lover, Mr Yunsa, beat her.
This is her story: “I live on the same compound with Mr Yunsa and we started dating. I was cooking, washing, and cleaning his house for him.
“On 4th January 2025, around 10:30/11: pm, I brought his clothes that he washed, and I helped him to pack them from the rope. I asked him to cross-check if the clothes were complete.
“He didn’t respond to me. He asked me to drop the clothes in his room. I repeated that he should cross-check, but before I knew it, he gave me a heavy blow to my right eye. Immediately, my eyes started bleeding and dripping water.
“Neighbours came out and asked him to take me to the hospital. He started begging and promised to take responsibility for my medical bills. But he didn’t fulfil his promise.
“As it is now, I have lost my right eye. The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) asked me to come with N10,000 to prepare the charge. The IPO also said I should come with money for the Prison warder, provide a mini bus that would convey us to Epe Magistrate court and that if I failed to do all these, it would be no deal.
“I hereby call on Advocates for Children and Vulnerable Persons Network (ACVPN), the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Lagos Ministry of Justice, and the Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation WAPA to please help me to get justice.”
