IGP Disu Deploys AIG to Plateau, Reinforces Security in Bokkos After Deadly Attacks

-

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has deployed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of Zone 4 Headquarters, Makurdi, Dankombo F. Morris, to Plateau State for an operational assessment following recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area.

The deployment, which took place on Tuesday, June 23, was aimed at evaluating the security situation in the affected communities and strengthening ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability.

During his visit, AIG Morris toured Kawel Community in Mushere District, Bokkos Local Government Area, where he met with community leaders, traditional rulers and other critical stakeholders to assess the impact of the attacks and discuss measures to improve security.

Conveying the condolences of the Inspector-General of Police and the Force Management Team, Morris sympathised with families affected by the violence and assured residents that the Nigeria Police Force remained committed to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice.

He said all lawful measures were being deployed to apprehend the perpetrators and prevent further attacks.

The AIG also disclosed that, on the directive of the IGP, additional security personnel and operational assets had been deployed to Plateau State, particularly to communities in Bokkos Local Government Area, to reinforce ongoing operations, strengthen security presence and facilitate the restoration of normalcy.

He appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and avoid reprisal attacks that could undermine ongoing peace and security efforts.

As part of his assessment visit, Morris paid courtesy calls on the Governor of Plateau State, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, and the Gbong Gwom Jos, His Royal Majesty Da Jacob Gyang Buba, CFR.

During the meetings, he conveyed the condolences of the Force leadership and reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to sustained collaboration with the Plateau State Government and other stakeholders in addressing the state’s security challenges.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to working closely with relevant stakeholders and other security agencies to protect lives and property, maintain public safety and support lasting peace across Plateau State and the country.

The statement was issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu, on Thursday.
